Title: Skill Suggestions wanted

Ok, so what would be good skills to include for modern and on scifi versions of Novus? I am trying to get a list as I was thinking of a more generic system overall....

two obvious ones would be  pistols and long guns (aiming and shooting would be similar regardless of era, but could include something for era)

I say long guns since early versions did not have rifled bores which is where the term "rifles" came from.

Electronics (building and fixing, includes building/fixing computers)
Computers (includes operation and programming)
Driving
Piloting (divided by era)
Navigation


any others?

Maybe you could consider lore differently than in medieval period because there are many more fields of study in modern era and a lot more in-depth knowldege. Maybe you could have special lore skills to reflect educational level including general level with some specializations.

Lore could easily be renamed "Knowledge" for other settings. and basically work the same way as it does now.

Here is the skills list for my Novus Space Opera game that I may be GMing in the summer. Its based on 1st edition

NOVUS SPACE OPERA SKILLS

Acrobatics (Spd)
Athletics (Con)
Combat Skills (varies)- use full Novus rules – add pistols (Wis), rifles (Wis), gunnery (Wis or Dex)(this can cover vehicle mounted stuff), weapon systems (?)(Wis or Spd)
Crafting varies – add Mechanic (Int), Astrogation (Int), Engineering (Int)
Drive (Dex)
First Aid (Wis)
Gimmickry (Dex) -
Influence (Chr)
Lore (Int) – use full Novus rules – add Star Systems
Magecraft varies – same as Novus
Navigation (Int) – Action skill for Astrogation
Perception (Wis)
Performing Arts (Chr)
Pilot (Spd)
Riding (Dex)
Spellcasting (varies) Mystic, Mystic Warrior, Sorcerer
Stealth (Spd)
Streetwise (Wis)
Survival (Wis)
Tracking (Wis)
Trickery (varies)
