What should I release next?
« on: February 21, 2022, 09:49:35 AM »
Here is a quick overview of the above items

  • Quickstart - The Forgotten Tomb of Aosath Bak -- (kinda of a sequel to the already released Quickstart. The first one takes place as the PCs are escorting a merchant from Na-Kith to Na-Kutha. This one takes place after they reach Ka-Kutha.
  • Anwyn: The Sundered Isle -- The core setting for Novsu 2e -- still trying to figure out if I want to include Hyb Ciuin ame and details in it, or just include Mirrhyc, and then release Hyb Ciuin as a small supplement similar to how Columbia Games did their Cities of Harn product, but with a little more detail on this city)
  • Libram Arcanis - The Book of Magic -- 11 new purce spell users and 5 new Hybrids (plus the 5 from the core rules), plus more spells and  item creation rules (ie. uses of magical skills)
  • Libram Peritus - The Book of Skills -- 18 new Training Paths (plus the 7 from the core rules, plus more Combat moves and Combat Styles
  • Libram Creatura - The Book of Creatures -- While I have many more creatures waiting in the wings, I still have many more that I would need to create for this product.
  • Libram Mentis - The book of the Mind -- This would be psionics for Novus. While far from ready, I do have the general outline of how they will work
  • Libram Secondus -- This would allow me to release bits from many of the above prodcuts in bits and pieces, and then those products could then those would be collections of the appropriate materials with additional material not released in the Librams

Anwyn. I think modern players are more attracted to the setting than the system and it's a good opportunity to use the setting to flog the system  ;)

Setting will take a little bit to get done (but I have been working on it this weekend -- heheh). In the meantime, I could also finish the second quickstart and release things via Lirbam Secondus as well....

(side note -- you CAN vote for up to 3 things on the poll....)

1. Anwyn
2. Libram Peritus
3. Libram Arcanis

In my mind, the setting is the real important thing to develop if you want to attract players and give consistency to the rules too (magic described in the book is Anwyn Magic, races…).

I wonder if, in the case of Anwyn, we can take a lesson from Shadow World. Sort of get the idea of the broad brushstrokes of the world and release regionalized sourcebooks all with slightly different flavors to them?

The Core book I am working on is pretty much giong to be an overview of the setting. A detailed one of course, but an overview....

Basic rundown on the geography, the inhabitant (review of the races, plus Grey Elves; which cultures apply, etc...), the calendar and weather, and then maybe one or two locations (Mirrhyc and/or Hyb Ciuin (this one might be a seperate product just because of the size it might turn out to be) and then a few adventure seeds type of things...

So, closer to the SW Master Atlas, than Jaiman or a similar sourcebook.

So, closer to the SW Master Atlas, than Jaiman or a similar sourcebook.

After taking a quick look at both, I'd say....

Closer to Jaiman than to the 4th Edition of the Shadow World Master Atlas

Though definitely contains some of the same type of content found in both, so it is kinda a mix (World of Greyhawk and HarnWorld, and a few others were also influences as well).
