I had editing turned off (not on these forums, but on another set), I used to have problems with one person who would post something volatile, wait until (usually me) somebody responded, and then edit it to something less inflamatory and the act stunned at being taken to task for what his post NOW read.

I have gone ahead and turned on the bit to allow editing (I think) for a maximum of 15 minutes after you post.

Thank You, that's great; 15 minutes is sufficient to catch errors and correct.

Ignore, dummy post to test if edit is available.

Hi, I don't think the modify function is set. From Simple Machines guide:

"To modify a post, select the Modify link or "paper and pencil" icon and make your changes. Most forums are likely to be configured to show the date and time of the last edit, but the administrator(s) may also allow a short period of time to elapse before this happens."

I'm not seeing the paper and pencil icon for a new post yet on a new post within the 15 minute window for edit.

Well, turns out that there were two separate spots...

1) turns on/off the ability to edit posts by setting the time limit
2) Actual group permissions (which were also turned off).

You SHOULD be able to edit your own posts now...

Verified as now working. I can edit my own posts and a last edit line shows up at end of post. Thanks.
