Title: Creature Building Rules/Guidelines?
Post by: Citizen Arcane on March 26, 2019, 12:20:22 AM
Hey.

Finally making a foray into Novus and getting ready to prep some world info.

Are there any specific rules or guidelines for monitor creation? I'm not seeing anything specific, so right now I'm just trying to eyeball things.

Is there anything more concrete?

For the most part, I built them just as I would a character (levels, etc...)

But, sorry, no, I did not have any concrete rules for creating them

There are rules for size; which sets base hits and movement.  What I've tried to do is blend monsters when applicable.  So, when creating the Giant Centipede I basically used the Giant Ant and then tried to find other monsters with similar abilities to what I was imagining to balance the rest.

This is pretty much what I have been doing so far.  Right now I am just running some solo encounters to get the feel of the game before I try and get my group into it!

Are there any monsters in particular you are trying to create?  I did a lot of tweaking for my own games.  Somewhere in the forums I have a little chart based on a Monster Class that I imposed that modifies HP.  I also roughly estimated ranks/level somewhere too I believe.
