If you are asking for Fantasy Express (the question is posted inside the FX folder), you don't convert XP, as the character earns XP it will eventually gain a new level, at that time it will receive a number of DP on each Skill Category based on the 2 Vocational Kits selected.

i might have missed it , but i don't get how to convert XP to DP when levelling UP?
anyone figured it out?

In Novus 2e, you are awarded Character Points (i.e. Development Points), not Experience Points, since Novus  2e does not have levels.

Players may then spend those Character Points whenever they want. As those Character Points are spent, the amount of XP is increased.

For example, if you starting character (100 xp) has 7 Character Points as well, and he spends 3 CP, he will then has 5 CP/103 XP  afterwards.

Essentially, the XP value is there to  track how many CP have been spent building the character overall, thus it works as a way of comparing characters/monsters that does not involve levels.

I think Labyrinth Lord made something similar, you have the core game, the Advanced Companion, and the Advanced Labyrinth Lord containing the core + companion.

I like it for the reasons you've mentioned, you can "upgrade" without the cost of duplicating the owned material, and for those wanting to shift to an "all in one" file, they still can.

Exactly... Provide  customers with options,  and not taking advantage of them...

I am slightly upset that I did not think of this sooner.... :o

Fantasy Express / Fantasy Express Lite Companion
« Last post by Rasyr on April 04, 2025, 09:01:25 AM »
Just  had an idea this morning. Not sure why I never thought of it before....

We have Fantasy Express - 300  pages of RPG goodness....
We have Fantasy Express Lite - 160 page of RPG Goodness....

To get what is missing from Lite, you have to purchase FX, which means you are repurchasing everything already in the Lite book

What if, I made a FX Lite Companion - which is essentially all of rules stuff missing from FX Lite (i.e. the missing Kins, the missing Vocations, etc.....

Then instead re-purchasing what they already have to get the  missing material, they could simply get the Lite Companion to  get that material. (the pricing on  it would  have to be $6  (for  the PDF) to make sure  that  the cost between the two does not  exceed the cost of the full rules.

Thoughts? Opinions?

when i meant Parry is OP , i meant OverPowered:p  lol

but regarding the rest i am convinced , i ll purchase Fantasy Express ...but 300 pages ...wow , you went into a writing frenzy:p

thanks for your insights anyway...

I recommend also getting the frist Quickstart module at least. It contains 16 pre-generated characters at first level (all are also available at both first and second  level in the downloads section to the  left), as well as an FX Cheat sheet of everything a player needs to know to play (all of the MartialMoves, etc..)
